“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
November 11, at the 11th hour of the 11th month of 1918 is a time when the world thought that the war to end all wars had come to an end and we were going to learn from the past and move forward.
Hindsight tells us a different story, though we always need to remember and honor those brave individuals who gave and continue to give their lives to ensure that we maintain the freedoms we have today.
JKF said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” We must make it a habit to not forget where we come from and the sacrifices that have been made for us to enjoy what we have.
Next time you see a Veteran, stop and shake their hand and thank them for everything they’ve done. When you see an individual who is currently serving, make sure you go up and thank them. These are the individuals who are the true heroes in life and we need to encourage our children to look up to them as much as they do to their favorite sports stars and musicians.
